BEFORE YOU BEGIN USING THE LADY-COMP
Stop Taking Hormones
Before you begin using Lady-Comp, it’s important to stop taking hormones, including birth control pills and any intrauterine ring or coil that delivers hormones. If you’ve been using a birth control coil that doesn’t secrete hormones, it’s highly recommended, though not absolutely required, that you have it removed. The goal is to get an accurate reading of your basal body temperature each day so that Lady-Comp can pinpoint exactly where you are in your menstrual cycle.
You can start using Lady-Comp right after you’ve stopped taking hormones. Be aware that the first bleeding after stopping hormones isn’t menstruation, it’s withdrawal bleeding: birth control hormones prevent ovulation, and the withdrawal bleeding that occurs during intake breaks has nothing to do with your cycle. Thus it doesn’t count as menstruation on your Lady-Comp. Most women experience their first “real” menstruation about 4-8 weeks after stopping hormones. Once Lady-Comp is synched up with your cycle, you’ll get back in touch with your own body and its natural rhythms. If you’ve been on hormones for any length of time, you just might be amazed at how much better you feel.
Set Up Your Lady-Comp
When your Lady-Comp arrives, it will be preset with date and time. During setup, you’ll adjust the time if necessary and set the time that the alarm will ring for your daily temperature reading. You’ll also input some initial information, including your age, weight and height, along with past menstruation data, if you have it. Remember, if you’ve just stopped using hormones and are experiencing withdrawal bleeding, don’t record it as menstruation. Once you’re set up on Lady-Comp, you’re ready for daily use.
DAILY USE
Each morning, take your temperature as soon as you wake up. Keep LadyComp next to your bed, and when its alarm alerts you, place the sensor under your tongue to take your temperature. The goal is to record your basal body temperature, which is your temperature immediately after you wake up and before talking, drinking or becoming active in any way. Thus we suggest that you allow Lady-Comp’s chirping alarm clock to wake you up each morning.
Lady Comp was designed with precise technology and ease of use in mind. On the first day of your menstruation, take your temperature as usual and press a button. That’s all there is to it!
Lady-Comp does the rest: it evaluates the data and displays an indicator light.
Red Light: You’re fertile for the next 24 hours.
Flashing Red Light: You’re ovulating, which means you’re at optimum fertility.
Green Light: You’re infertile for the next 24 hours.
Yellow Light: Lady-Comp is in learning or transitional mode. Fertility diagnosis is inconclusive, so consider yourself fertile for the next 24 hours.
All 3 colors flashing simultaneously: This indicates a possible pregnancy. Within 3 days, the lights will stop flashing and remain constantly illuminated. When you get a possible pregnancy reading, please consult your medical practitioner as soon as possible.
Lady-Comp can also give you valuable information about your cycle with the touch of a few buttons. You can quickly see your fertility prognosis for the next 6 days, The Lady-Comp manual provides the easy steps to get this information.
